Autopilot
Score: 0 - 14
As the assessment suggests, your situational understanding toward emotion needs some work, that’s the bad news. The good news? There is nowhere to go but up, and that’s where you’re headed!
Later in this season, we will be comparing emotional understanding to that of Maslow’s Hierarchy, and showcasing how a rise in emotional understanding correlates to a rise on Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. That discussion will come in time. For the time being, and knowing that correlation will be made later, if we were to position your score onto the hierarchy, your positioning would align with the first floor, suggesting you have a tendency to respond as if on auto pilot. You feel. You respond. It is an efficient approach that requires less thought, minimizes discomfort, and allows for a shorter reaction time. It is an approach based on efficiency. However, being efficient is not always effective, meaning opportunities might pass you by.
Advice for Your Journey: During your journey through season one, it is recommended that you spend time listening and asking questions, both with an open mind. Look for choices that aren’t always obvious. Look for emotions that, at first glance, can’t be seen. It is a form of abstract thought, and can be likened to someone pulling open a curtain to reveal hidden levels of understanding. It won’t be easy, neither will it be comfortable. However, this new understanding will give your approach a new dimension that will help you achieve a more effective approach.
